About the Labradoodle

The Labradoodle’s personality is the most notable trait.  They are bred first and foremost to be family companions.  Labradoodles are clever dogs with loads of personality.  They are playful, comical and curious.  They will make you laugh daily.  Labradoodles are smart and trainable but like any dog they will need training and socialization.

Labradoodles are not purebred dogs.  They are a crossbreed of Labrador and poodle and are often referred to as ‘Designer Dogs’ or ‘Hybrid’ dogs.  Elle’s puppies will be considered F1 puppies.  This means that the puppies are a fist generation descendant of purebred parents.  The puppies will be registered under the Continental Kennel Club (C.K.C.).

The coat of the Labradoodle can come in a variety of colors and textures.  Elle is a yellow lab and Atai is jet black.  We will not know what colors are available until the puppies arrive.

Are Labradoodles healthier than other dogs?

The question of whether Labradoodles are healthier than other purebred dogs is a complex and debatable question.  Labradoodles are a crossbreed between two purebred parents.  Many health problems have been associated with inbreeding of purebred dogs.  Directly crossing two different breeds would lead one to the conclusion that hereditary problems associated with inbreeding have been eliminated.  But the fact is, they are all just dogs and some hereditary problems are found in both breeds.  More genetic research needs to be done before this question is honestly answered.

More or less it comes down to honest and selective breeding.  We have chosen Elle and Atai to breed on the basis that they are both healthy and happy with excellent pedigrees, temperaments and family histories.  We hope that these excellent qualities are passed down to the next generation.
